DESCRIPTION:The USC Center for Public Relations is launching its 2019 Relevance Report with a networking reception and discussion panel on Thursday\, November 1. \nJoin CPR director Fred Cook (Chairman\, Golin)\, Board of Advisors members and Annenberg public relations students for a networking reception beginning at 5:00 p.m.\, followed at 6:30 by a panel discussion about the Center’s annual collection of essays that examine issues impacting the communication field and predict future trends. Fred Cook will lead a discussion of current issues with CPR board members\, followed by Q&A. Free copies of the 2019 Relevance Report will be distributed. The event is in Wallis Annenberg Hall (ANN) on the USC campus. \nAdmission is free for industry professionals – RSVP required. The workshop will be split into three sessions (Before a Crisis\, During a Crisis and After a Crisis) and will feature the following crisis communications experts: \nHoward Bragman: Howard Bragman has over 30 years of experience in public relations\, with expertise in entertainment publicity and crisis communications. Bragman founded LA Brea Media\, which works with talent\, entertainment companies\, brands\, causes and digital entities. In addition to his agency work\, Bragman was an award-winning adjunct professor at the University of Southern California's Annenberg School for Communications and is the author of the bestselling book\, "Where's My Fifteen Minutes?\nSean Smith: Sean Smith is the executive vice president of corporate crisis communications at Porter Novelli\, where he works with clients like the Almond Board of California and the National Honey Board. Before Porter Novelli\, Sean worked at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS)\, where he served as assistant secretary for public affairs. While at DHS\, Smith helped lead the Obama administration's public response to the H1N1 outbreak\, border violence in Mexico\, attempted terrorist attacks\, the Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill and dozens of other breaking news incidents.
