Joe Marchelewski, a communications manager with the law firm of Shernoff Bidart Echeverria Bentley LLP, is speaking at this year’s Western District Conference at a breakout session titled “Lawsuits and Publicity: Managing the Story of Your Case.”
During the last twelve months, major civil and criminal lawsuits have gripped the nation’s attention in one way or another, and each trial has lessons for how to best approach publicity. From a certain professional wrestler’s lawsuit against Gawker to a former ESPN analyst’s invasion of privacy case, handling publicity before, during and after a trial is complicated and can take many twists and turns.
In his seminar, Joe will examine the best ways to approach press involving lawsuits, both from the plaintiff and defense, as well as third-party perspectives. The attendees will also take a hard look at specific case studies (including some of those Joe worked on personally) for both state and federal lawsuits. He will also discuss how to manage both the attorney messaging and managing attorney expectations.
Joe has 13 years of experience in public relations and marketing for law firms ranging from the small boutique firms to corporate firms with a global reach. The session is meant to be a mini-boot camp for legal publicity.
