The recently formed LA Senior PR Advisors Group cordially invites you to attend the first of an inaugural series of exclusive programming titled “A Conversation With…”, which showcases influential voices in the Southern California region on topics of importance to the PR advisor community.
On May 20, “A Conversation With…” will feature a self-moderated discussion between Peter Marx, Chief Innovation Officer for Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, and Yusef Robb, former Director of Communications for Mayor Garcetti, on the Mayor’s agenda for advancing communications and the use of technology innovation and new media to reach the City’s constituencies.
You are invited to a private cocktail reception with the evening’s speakers at the Jonathan Club Downtown L.A., starting at 6 p.m., followed by our program from 7 – 8 p.m. Cost is $60 per person, and seating is limited so please respond by Monday, May 18. Hors d’oeuvres and refreshments will be served; parking is included.

Jonathan Club DRESS CODE & ETIQUETTE
Cellular telephones, radios and laptop computers are never permitted in areas commonly enjoyed by other members. All attendees must observe the established Dress Code of the Club. The dress code requires conservative clothing in good taste, which includes suits or coat and slacks and a dress shirt with necktie for gentlemen, and dresses, skirts or tailored pant suits or evening pants outfits in conservative good taste for ladies in the Regan Room on the third floor. Denim clothing or other casual or informal attire is never acceptable. Guests in unacceptable attire will not be admitted to the Club, and no event refund will be issued by the PRSA-LA for guests denied admittance due to unacceptable attire. Use of the Club facilities is limited to the Regan Room on the third floor.
Peter Marx is the Chief Technology Officer for the City of Los Angeles. He was the first Chief Innovation Technology officer for the city and was appointed by Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti on February 4th, 2014. His tasks include driving technology strategy across the City’s departments and agencies, working with the local and worldwide technology industries, and using data to upgrade performance throughout City government. Prior to coming to the Mayor’s Office, Marx was Vice President, Business Development, for Qualcomm Labs where he started the Gimbal initiative as part of his overall work on driving the development of new technologies ranging from augmented reality to context awareness. He previously held the position of Vice President at Mattel handling digital and online products and services and was the Vice President, Emerging Technologies for Universal Studios. He has spent his career writing software, working with technologies and technologists, and driving the state-of-the-art forward. Marx also holds the position of Adjunct Professor at the University of Southern California.
Yusef Robb was until this month Director of Communications to LA Mayor Eric Garcetti. He previously served the administrations of Gov. Gray Davis, CA Controller Steve Westly and L.A. Mayor Jim Hahn. His private sector experience includes advising the largest global entertainment event in history, groundbreaking Supreme Court litigation, and cutting-edge businesses and leading non-profit organizations. He has worked across the United States and in Asia, Europe and South America and is a seasoned spokesperson with appearances ranging from the New York Times and the CBS Evening News to Elle and Spin.
Robb provides strategic communications counsel to individuals, businesses, organizations and initiatives. A veteran political operative, he has advised campaigns for President, California
Governor, New York Governor, New York Comptroller, Los Angeles Mayor and those for and against ballot initiatives — including the costliest initiative campaign in US history.
The LA Senior PR Advisors Group is a new organization created by the Los Angeles chapter of PRSA for Southern California-based public relations professionals and executives with 20+ years of experience. The group provides peer networking and professional development opportunities that are relevant to the profession’s most experienced practitioners. Membership in the group is by invitation. Referrals for qualified members are accepted.
