It was 25 years ago that Karen Murphy O’Brien and Brett O’Brien launched Murphy O’Brien Public Relations in their Century City apartment with a single client––the Sunset Marquis Hotel and Villas.
Today, the agency is one of the leading travel, lifestyle and real estate PR firms in the country, with close to 50 employees and more than 80 clients.
From its office in West LA’s Roll Global Building, Murphy O’Brien represents blue chip hospitality brands including Peninsula Hotels, Shutters on the Beach, Esperanza, Auberge Resorts, The Cheesecake Factory, The Counter, and many more.
When they launched Murphy O’Brien in 1989, the husband-and-wife duo wanted to build an agency that would bring together creative minds to develop and implement distinctive campaigns for their clients. Their effort to create a unique working environment has paid off, as the agency is consistently ranked one of the 10 best places to work in Los Angeles by the Los Angeles Business Journal.
Murphy O’Brien has orchestrated a wide range of programs––from luxury resort openings and brand launches to social media initiatives. The agency even developed a campaign for the Nicaraguan Tourism Board and the nation’s first luxury resort. The result––major story placements including the “Today Show,” CNN, Fodors, Conde’ Naste Traveler, Travel + Leisure, Vogue and Golf Magazine––to name just a few, as well as a grand prize from the PR Daily Awards for 2013 PR Campaign of the Year.
Congratulations… and here’s to the next 25 years!
