Who doesn’t enjoy a top ten list? PRSA-LA Board Member Stefan Pollack and his firm, the Pollack PR Marketing Group (PPMG), this year carried on a holiday tradition by publishing a fifth annual year-end list of “Ten PR Defining Moments.” To be included on PPMG’s list, a news event or scenario from 2014 needed to carry significant PR implications, including the potential to change the way the industry does business.
So what made the cut this year? One defining moment involved a challenge that swept the Internet and raised millions of dollars for research, marking a tactical shift in online fundraising. Another focused on a company that “seized the moment” and turned an embarrassing World Series promotion into a marketing coup. A third involved a new social media precedent as the industry reacted to the first-ever Twitter libel case.
