My fellow PRSA-LA members, I am pleased to report that the state of our chapter is strong.
We have tremendous momentum from last year under the leadership of 2015 PRSA-LA President Jean Gonsoulin. Highlights include hosting an immensely successful Western District Conference, releasing our second report on the economic impact of L.A.’s PR industry, and producing a wonderfully-reinvented PRism Awards ceremony…to name just a few.
For 2016, we bring a renewed commitment to delivering the best value for your chapter investment. Here are a few highlights of what we have planned:
We’re launching a Competitive Advantage Series of quarterly programs to bring together industry leaders to discuss the most important issues facing our industry, as well as to showcase the latest best practices. The first event in the series is slated for early March, and will focus on audience engagement. Subsequent programs will address diversity and inclusion, global integration, corporate philanthropy and charting a course for the future of our industry.
- Our very popular At Breakfast With series, which provides an opportunity to meet the media and discuss media tactics, will also kick-off in March.
- We will continue to invest in the future of our chapter and industry through support and mentorship of the eight PRSSA student chapters throughout the LA area, as well as our Young Professionals group, which provides professional growth, development and social networking to those just starting out in PR.
- Los Angeles is home to one of the largest contingents of independent practitioners and freelancers in the nation, and their prominence will be reflected in our rapidly growing Independent Practitioners Alliance (IPA). The first IPA luncheon of 2016 is on tap for February 11 and will focus on “The Solo Journey.”
- We will take time throughout the year to celebrate the achievements of our members at each of our programs, culminating with our PRism Awards in November. For more than 50 years, the PRism Awards have highlighted the best of the best of PR in Los Angeles. The PRism call for entries will begin in just a few months, so now is a good time to start thinking about your award submissions. On behalf of the entire board, we are honored and privileged to lead such a fine group of professionals. We wish you all the success in the world. Here’s to a great 2016!
- And this is just the start. We are focused on making 2016 a great year for you, our members and future members. Please let us know what we can do to help, and feel free to reach out to me or any PRSA-LA board member at our chapter programs. And if you are ready to help, please let us know. We have many opportunities for you to get more involved.
Warmly,
Victoria Lelash, APR
