“Summertime and the livin’ is easy.”
I appreciate the sentiment behind this familiar song lyric (written by Gershwin and used by dozens of artists from Sublime to Janice Joplin), but at PRSA-LA, the livin’ is also action-packed this time of year.
On Wednesday, June 25, we present our annual multicultural event, which this year focuses on reaching multicultural millennials. While it promises to be a great evening, we understand that our responsibility to multiculturalism goes far beyond a once-a-year event. As an organization, we are committed to making everything we do at PRSA-LA inclusive and relevant to all PR practitioners in our uniquely diverse city. This is one of our foremost goals, and it’s still a work in progress.
As summer gets into full swing, it’s also time to start submitting entries for PRSA-LA’s 50th Annual PRism Awards. This year we’ve added several new subcategories to increase opportunities for lower-budget campaigns. And for the third year, our award submission process is 100% online (we were the first large chapter in the nation to adopt such an eco-friendly system). The early entry deadline is August 4th (see call for entries page) and the 50th Annual PRism Awards gala is set for November 19th. So get ready to enter your best work for a chance to be honored as one of the best in public relations.
It’s time to get busy… and of course have some fun in the sun.
Sincerely,
Erik Deutsch, PRSA-LA President
