Just ten short days ago, the Los Angeles chapter of PRSA hosted the 2015 Western District Conference, which drew a sell-out crowd for two days of outstanding programming, fun special events and unparalleled networking opportunities with some of our profession’s brightest stars.
The event was a year in the making, organized by chapter board members Denis Wolcott and Keith Pillow, and supported by our indomitable executive director Mindy Brundige and a committee of dedicated volunteers and generous sponsors like GM and Business Wire. Their hard work and tremendous commitment to ensuring success paid off in ways we had only hoped to achieve.
The comments we’ve heard and the electric atmosphere told us this was indeed a conference to remember. A heart-felt “thank you” goes out to our board members and those of you in the Southern California PR community who turned out to take advantage of this extraordinary professional development opportunity right in our own backyard.
Next year’s event will also be close to home — in Orange County — so I hope you’ll put this on your calendar and plan to take part. The Western District Conference gives everyone in our profession the chance to hear from noted speakers in our field on timely topics that can truly further our careers — and at a price and location that makes it easy to participate.
With the first quarter of our year behind us, we are looking ahead to many more exciting offerings for PRSA members and professional colleagues. In April, we partner with USC’s Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism for the 25th Annual Kenneth Owler Smith Symposium for a compelling look at diversity and inclusion featuring a blue-chip panel of experts. This event will be Thursday, April 16th on the USC campus.
We are also planning our first event for senior practitioners (those with 20+ years of experience) on Wednesday, April 22 called “A Conversation With…”, featuring two prominent voices on the topic of technology innovation and its impact on communications. Watch for more news on these speakers.
Thank you for your continued support of our chapter. We look forward to seeing you at an upcoming event!
Sincerely,
Jean Gonsoulin, PRSA-LA President
