It’s hard to believe that the dog days of summer are upon us, but 2015 is really flying by. For the Los Angeles chapter of PRSA, it’s a product of our first half of the year being chock full of events and activities. We held our first Annual Meeting of the Membership in conjunction with our signature “State of the State of PR” kick-off program and our annual PRSSA One-Day Conference. We produced a hugely successful Western District Conference, conducted a host of professional development programs through our monthly evening events and “At Breakfast With” series, and just last week we hosted our popular ConneXions Mixer in six locations across the city.
We don’t intend to let up on the accelerator – we are participating in June’s Social Media Week with our own exciting panel program – but the summer is a great time to look at how you can bolster your own career and professional development. What can you do to advance your career and what opportunities are available to you through PRSA-LA to help you accomplish that?
Will you earn your APR credential this year? We have one of the most valuable preparation programs available to support this pursuit. Our committee recently hosted a three-part APR Prep Boot Camp and there will be a Readiness Review this fall for aspiring candidates.
Is your goal to elevate your profile in the PR community and make better connections with PR peers? We will be hosting our big Summer Social in August and you can count on meeting a number of influential PR people there in a fun, informal setting. There are also a number of ways you can get involved as a volunteer with the chapter, from working on our PRism Awards committee and helping out at the November event, to recruiting new members or sponsors.
The lazy days of summer are rarely that for PR people, but it’s a great time to see how you can jump-start your career through opportunities offered by PRSA-LA!
Sincerely,
