PRSA-LA Scholarship Application opens on Monday, Feb. 12. Application deadline is April 30, 2024.
The Public Relations Society of America, Los Angeles Chapter, has established a scholarship to assist local college students pursuing a degree in Public Relations or Communications. The goal is to recognize outstanding academic achievement among undergraduate and graduate students who are pursuing a career in public relations and related communications fields.
Scholarship recipients will be recognized at the 2024 PRSA-LA PRism Awards and introduced to PR executives at leading agencies and corporations who are a part of the PRSA-LA network, as well as waive student fees for PRSA-LA events for one year.
Selection Criteria:
- Attend or be accepted to attend a four-year accredited college or university in Los Angeles County by Fall 2023 semester or be enrolled for the 2024-2025 school year.
- Be an incoming college sophomore, junior, senior undergraduate, or graduate student.
- Earn a minimum 2.8 cumulative GPA and 3.0 GPA in their major subject.
- Express a desire to work in the public relations/communications industries.
- Major in public relations, communications, advertising, and/or marketing.
- Be a student member of a PRSSA chapter sponsored by PRSA-LA (not required, but preferred).
- Be available to attend the PRSA-LA PRISM Awards on October 24, 2024.
Application Requirements:
· Complete an online application form. Please provide answers to all questions wherever applicable.
· Provide a current letter of recommendation from an academic professor. (An additional letter of recommendation from an employer or internship supervisor is optional and recommended).
· Submit college or university transcripts (Unofficial transcripts will be accepted).
· Submit a personal statement (not to exceed two (2) pages) explaining your interest in the field of public relations and career aspirations. Please include involvement in the community and any challenges/obstacles you have overcome to pursue your education. Please note that these statements may be used for PRSA-LA publicity efforts.
· Provide a one (1) page résumé.
· Provide (1) writing sample with your application, options may include press release, school newspaper clips, blog article, PR relevant course term paper.
