PRism Awards Honor Best in Communications Strategy and Execution in Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES (November 13, 2020) —The Los Angeles Chapter of Public Relations Society of America (PRSA-LA) held the 56th annual PRism Awards, honoring the best in communications strategy and execution in the LA area, on Thursday, November 12. Kim Tobin, reporter for NBC4, hosted the virtual ceremony, with comedian Jason Love joining as a special guest to start the ceremony with some laughter.
“This year has been a long, tough one, to say the least. We remain incredibly inspired by the ingenuity, creativity and elbow grease on display in this year’s PRism entries,” said Joe Marchelewski, president of PRSA-LA and president/owner of AIJ Communications. “We are excited to celebrate the achievements of those who were able to spin straw into gold and make the most of this unique year with innovative and thoughtful campaigns, and we can’t wait to see what this talented group comes up with next year.”
Special honorees at the 56th annual PRism Awards were:
Communications Team of the Year
Universal Studio Group Communications
Pre-COVID, the team executed campaigns that were comprehensive and varied in nature, utilizing all tools available to PR professionals including broadcast and print features, guild and industry panels, and press junkets. When COVID-19 hit, the team pivoted to make the most of a virtual world, planning unique events and premieres. Through everything that happened this year, the team at Universal Studio Group Communication combined passion and innovation to create outstanding communications work.
Best in Show
Black Ink Public Relations and Marketing
The Best in Show honor is bestowed upon the team with the highest scoring entry. Black Ink Public Relations and Marketing was honored for their “Best Campaign on a Shoestring Budget” entry for “Comedy Gives Back,” a donation-based four-hour live streaming comedy event to lift spirits and raise money for an emergency relief fund.
The President’s Award
Fiona Hutton & Associates
The President’s Award is granted to the team with the most PRism Awards of the evening. For earning four PRism Awards and one Award of Excellence, the President’s Award was granted to Fiona Hutton and Associates. The team took home trophies in the categories of “Community Relations, Government,” “Integrated Communications, Associations/Education,” “Public Affairs, Government,” and “Media Relations, Healthcare,” as well as an Award of Excellence in the “Events & Observances, Government” category.
