JIM WETMORE is an executive vice president and co-leader of the California Healthcare Practice for Weber Shandwick, a leading global public relations firm and part of the Interpublic Group (NYSE: IPG). Jim has 18 years of public relations experience focusing on strategic market development, issues management, advocacy relations and corporate change communications for a broad range of leading pharmaceutical, biotech, health IT, medical device and nonprofit clients.
Jim specializes in the development of communications programs to support all phases of product development and marketing. His range of therapeutic experience includes oncology, autoimmune and infectious disease, orphan diseases, genetic disorders, ophthalmology, CNS, urology and cardiovascular disease. Jim also has extensive experience providing counsel on a broad range of issues including drug shortage, product safety, recalls, regulatory challenges, patient activism, government scrutiny and allegations of off-label marketing.
He has media trained C-suite executives and key opinion leaders, as well as celebrities and Hall-of-Fame athletes.
Prior to joining Weber Shandwick, Jim served as EVP/West Coast Market Leader for GCI Health, overseeing offices in Los Angeles and San Francisco for this global public relations agency and member of the Young & Rubicam/WPP Group companies.
Jim received a bachelor’s degree from New York University where he studied music and business.
