Fueled by social media, issues surrounding diversity have reached an intensity few of us have experienced and vast numbers of companies and industries have been—or will be—impacted. While there have been improvements in some areas, few organizations can claim they are completely immune to controversy surrounding diversity. The risk can also come from different fronts: employees as in the case of Google, government as in the case of the NFL, or members of the community as seen in recent Hollywood controversies.
Since your ability to recognize trends and risks is imperative regardless of your area of practice, we have put together a panel of experts and thought leaders to discuss diversity in 2017. Learn how shifting trends in how women, people of color, LGBTQ, and people with disabilities are represented in entertainment impact and are impacted by societal attitudes and expectations and what this means for you as a communications professional.
Panelists:
Tre’vell Anderson, Reporter, Los Angeles Times
Leshelle Sargent, Director of Publicity, Warner Bros. Worldwide Television
Philip Sokoloski, Vice President, Integrated Communications, FilmL.A., Inc.; President, PRSA-LA Board of Directors
Moderator:
Ana-Christina Ramón, Ph.D., Director of Research and Civic Engagement, Division of Social Sciences, UCLA College of Letters and Science
Please note this program is being postponed to February 2018. New date announced soon.
